Item # 01/7951
In celebration of the marriage of HRH The Prince of Wales to Mrs. Camilla Parker-Bowles on 9th April, 2005, Halcyon Days has designed these commemorative editions for collectors. This custom dates back to the 18th century when the regimental flag of colour was "trooped down the ranks during the daily guard-mounting parade. From 1805, in the reign of King George III, it celebrated the sovereign's official birthday. The Queen has been taking the salute since 1952 on her official birthday in June and is depicted on the lid of this colourful box riding in a carriage to horse Guards Parade, where the ceremony takes place. The box features the colour of the Irish guards.
